From ancient monasteries in Armenia to music festivals in France, Germany & Switzerland, Bet Williams and John Hodian have been creating and performing music together for over 20 years. With both the world music ensemble “Epiphany Project” and the alt-rock-pop-blues based “Bet Williams Band” the music these two artists create is a vast quilt of influences and inspirations.
Originally from New York, the duo settled in Berlin 5 years ago where they have built a strong cult following throughout Europe. Now Bet and John will be bringing music from both their bands to venues (and living rooms) all across America for a series of intimate concerts. This American tour is particularly special as they will be performing with their 10 year old son Jack, on drums and percussion.
THE FAMILY CIRCUS IN CONCERT
BET WILLIAMS - voice and guitar
JOHN HODIAN - keyboard/piano
JACK HODIAN - drums/percussion
You can get an idea of some of the music below.
"O.K. so it's not really a circus, but since we're traveling across the U.S. with a tent we thought we might qualify (especially if we sell popcorn!). Anyway, we like the way it sounds and have always wanted to run away with the circus." - Bet, John and Jack
MORE INFO ON BET WILLIAMS AND EPIPHANY PROJECT:
With influences ranging from Qawwali devotional songs to Appalachian Folk, acoustic blues and Tuvan throat singing, singer/songwriter Bet Williams uses her 4 octave voice in an endless number of unusual ways. John Hodian’s piano playing features haunting melodies and intricate rhythms that reflect his Armenian roots, his formal composition training and love for improvisation.
Here's a chance to hear music from Bet Williams Band and Epiphany Project along with an excerpt from John’s magnum opus “Nagash” based on texts by a 14th century Armenian mystic poet and priest.
